Happy and Healthy Trails…..

My journey to a Marathon started very innocently………….

” I am not an ATHLETE or a HEALTH NUT !!!

The kids were young and demanding. I needed space as I was a “stay at home” mom. My frustration lead to desperation. I needed an
outlet. My neighbor had the same lifestyle as me and we agreed to walking for an hour a day during the week days, before our families would wake up and the demands would start. This became a wonderful lifestyle change. I felt so much better! Wow, my own time. My attitude was positive when I would return home, my body felt much better and I was being consistent!! One of the most important things to this life style change was, I had found somebody I could count on to be ready and waiting to walk every morning! Even if I was tired, I knew my partner would be there and I was motivated to do my part.

This continued for about a year, then she moved. Since I had done this long enough, anytime I would stop for a week, my body would be yelling at me to get back out there, I found myself constantly searching for different partners to keep this thing going. It worked! After my walking for about a year and a half, one of my walking partners, that was also a runner, asked me if I wanted to do the L.A. marathon. I asked her if she was crazy? I told her that I was not an athlete and I don’t run! She said that her and her sister and her friend Carla, we’re going to just walk it for fitness sake and that she said she thinks I would do great. So, scared to death, off I went. That was 11 years ago. I was amazed that my body could do that. This challenge lead to much more as her friend. Carla and I started walking and Carla taught me about balanced nutrition and encouraged me to plan my next goal.

This has now become my hobby and I am very thankful for all I have learned, so I feel I need to share my journey to encourage other people searching for a more fit, happy & healthy life. I am 47 years old now and I am fabulously fit, Happy and Healthy!.
I continue to walk/jog/hike with a walking partner 5 days a week. I continue to enter Marathon’s/Ultra’s so that I motivate myself to continue my walking/aerobic routine. If I can do this, anybody can. So I challenge you to find a partner and plan your goal and you too will be Happy & Healthy!!

Training For An Event Is Success…..

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Most people who repeat the same cycles in starting their exersise programs, only end up yo-yoing in defeat. Why is this such a continuous obstical in obtaining fitness for life???

Some reasons are as followed:

1. Feelings of selfishness to take time out for yourself consistently.

2. Improper planning in prioritizing your days.

3. Caught up with sudden demands that take your focus off your needs, energies and time.

4. Loss of encouragement, No accountability or partnership.

5. Hit the wall through over-training, boring and repetitious workouts.

6. The people you are close to you or want to please discourage your success in a mirage of ways…….(insecurities, jealousy, envy, fear).

I lived through all of these situations. I gave myself permission to live my life and allow responsibilty to fall on my shoulders.

I believe that the only way to measure success is to make a date with your goals…..

*People perish because of lack of VISION*

Start by overcoming your fears…The “WHAT IF’S“, “I CAN’TS” —– Reverse the fears and ask yourself….What will I get out of this that is good? I can do all things with a Goal in mind and a plan to follow……

INSTEAD OF KEEPING YOUR EYES FOCUSED ON YOUR NEED TO LOOSE FAT AND GET INTO THE SHAPE YOU WANT TO BE AT………GET YOUR FOCUS ON TRAINING FOR AN EVENT……

Pick an event (For everyone, not just athlets) that you can enter, train consistently with a specified date, educate and position your steps in daily training with one sole purpose…..To thrive and to say “Mission Completed”.

Event Examples: Walk or Jog a 10k

Climb a mountain (Check out Tony Louch’s climb….on my blogroll)

Enter an event for a worthy cause

Triathalon, Marathon, A Bike Event

*Consider any activity that you would ENJOY as your goal.

Who’s The Trainer anyways???

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Listen up!!! Have you been waiting for that “perfect quick fix it professional trainer” to come out of the sky and rescue you from your comfort zone?

You are the perfect person to train yourself….I mean, who knows you or your patterns as well as yourself?   Who can get you more motivated , more encouraged, more sincere about your needs or desires than you?

The answers are all within you….You must be the one to start the ball rolling & keep it moving in the direction that you implement as steps.

I need to impress on you that when you hire a Physical Trainer and you rely on them…..He or she becomes the babysitter of your future regimine.

You must have your plan down and know what you want to accomplish before you start your fitness quest. Listen…When you walk into a place and give your control up to someone else (I did not say trust) You will never accomplish the fruits of your success in the long haul. You don’t want to go back to the same place you started after you have lost a few pounds, worked up some muscle….soon to discover that it was not your trainer that got you there, but your hard work.

The picture of failure becomes a cycle of consistent neediness, when you have not painted your picture from the beginning to the end….I also believe that in this cycle you loose your heart to believe, earn success, hold on to your confidence and achieve your own rewards for pressing through, maintaining and then exceling into your hunger for More.

Become your own Trainer now…Take a good view of your needs….Take the RESPONSIBILITY of your fitness goals into your own hands and give yourself the GIFT OF CHOICE ……to LIVE LIFE< DON’T LET LIFE LIVE YOU.
